Photographic Fine Art Lamps Feature New Environmentally Responsible LED Lighting

February 26th, 2008

CARPINTERIA, Calif. - February 26, 2008 Holland Scott Gallery today announces the debut of the Environmentally Responsible Green Energy Fine Art Lamps. These lamps combine energy-efficiency technology with fine-art design.

Elegant photographic floral images and art-deco linoleum patterns from the 1930’s are the result of energy efficient LED (Light Emitting Diode) lamp technology and the Giclee (zhee-clay) fine-art printmaking process. The Giclee printmaking process uses permanent archival vegetable die inks on the cylindrical illuminated photographic image. Additional lamp designs are in production.

Omnidirectional, these LED lamps provide the correct color temperature of daylight for displaying naturally brilliant photographic colors. They also generate no heat and are free from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays that may cause fading over time. More importantly, LED lamps use 80 to 90 percent less energy than the incandescent lamps they replace.

Inventor and artist, Candy Hawthorne, along with her husband and art dealer, Scott, also a professional photographer and a true-digital art pioneer, are the brains behind the first Green Energy Fine Art Lamps. They have been creating art mediums with computers and technology since 1978.

Scott is a designer and creative evangelist; his contemporary photographic works are represented in each lamp he designs.

“The natural photographic beauty is complemented with the soft LED lighting; these new lamps look spectacular,” Scott said. “The eco-friendliness of the new lamps is also very exciting.”

The new long lasting LED lighting is provided by LEDtronics, one of the leading LED lighting design and manufacturing companies in the U.S.

Small Carpinteria Gallery Opens to an Overflow Crowd

June 22nd, 2007

The opening night celebration at the new HOLLAND SCOTT gallery in Carpinteria was highlighted with an appearance by Norton Wisdom, the popular performance painter, accompanied by the band Magic Box. The over flow crowd of art enthusiast and collectors participating in the opening night event were treated to the spontaneous brush strokes and hand applied colors displayed through a back lit painting surface that came to life through Norton’s artistic creativity that is synchronized with the musical genius of Magic Box. The brush strokes and music flow together creating fascinating imagery that changed with the beat of the music. “Norton Wisdom’s work is very powerful, his ability to paint live with the music is a brilliant gift, I love his work, I now have two of his paintings” stated Jerry Abels of Palm Desert California. The Friday evening event followed the official ribbon cutting ceremonies held earlier in the day.

The HOLLAND SCOTT gallery is now open at 963 Linden Ave in Carpinteria and is currently showing Norton Wisdom’s work along side local Carpinteria artists Pamela Enticknap and Lety Garcia. Surfing photographer Glenn Dubock of Carpinteria is showing several of his photographs. In addition Santa Barbara and Montecito photographers works are on display. The gallery also features hand crafted fine art lamps created by resident artist Scott Hawthorne.

Long time Carpinteria resident Candy Hawthorne gallery partner with her daughter Holland have wanted to bring a small art gallery to life in Carpinteria for years and discovered the opportunity in the small space that was available between the Worker Bee Cafe and Magpie Antiques on Linden Ave. “We have talented artists scheduled now for upcoming events, we are very happy with the reception we have received so far. Our opening night event was attended by art collectors from Los Angeles, Palm Desert and Santa Barbara, we are very pleased to see all the new faces” stated Candy Hawthorne
